God has given Kim a passion for working with children. She loves the way they think and learn about God and how they interact with others. Her favorite thing is helping children to discover the love of God and to connect to Christ. She believes that it is vital to support and encourage parents as they mentor the growing faith of their children.
A Virginia native, Kim grew up in Richmond, moved for several years with her husband and family in the military, and then settled in the Alexandria area in 1995. After teaching elementary-aged children in public schools for several years, she transitioned to directing the Weekday Preschool Ministry at First Baptist Church of Alexandria. In 2006, the church called Kim to serve as Pastor for Children.
During her years of ministry, Kim was so grateful to be able to complete a Certification in Children’s Ministry through the BGAV and to graduate from the John Leland Center for Theological Studies. In 2019 she began to serve Virginia Baptists as Children’s Minister in Residence, which has given her opportunities to encourage and mentor others who are called to ministry and to continue learning.
